DESCRIPTION

1970 AMC AMX OEM 390 Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished to match the exterior visuals of the 1970 AMX 390 air cleaners - these are nearly impossible to find anymore. It features the correct snorkel inlet housing with a thermally regulated temperature valve and large diameter pre-heater provision. The base is in very good condition and has the front oil breather elbow tube, along with the drain hole in the bottom. The carburetor flange is 5 1/8" inch and accommodates factory 4 barrel carburetors (Autolite), as well as aftermarket Edelbrock/Holley/Carter iterations. It has been updated with the 1970 blue version air cleaner service decal featuring the "Front" call out.

The matching OEM chrome Ram Air lid is in good survivor condition, but does have its own patina. The dimpled wing nut is correct and contours with a new heavy duty air filter. The assembly is completed with an original AMC wing nut. A new 390 Four Barrel decal is included (loosely installed) - it can be removed in the event of rechroming the lid.

This is a rare opportunity to get an original assembly. It is complete and reflects the original period, allowing an incomplete restoration to get that much closer to the original state.

FITMENT

 

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel carburetors (Autolite) with a 5 1/8" diameter flange. It will also fit later model (Holley, Carter, and Edelbrock) variations with the larger 5 1/8" flange. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to purchase to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS

Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.
