DESCRIPTION

OEM 1970-71 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 396 LS3 Oval Snorkel Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished in 60% gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the long oval snorkel in good condition, along with the ThermAC vacuum pod, new white-striped vacuum lines, a new heavy duty air filter and breather filter, and a recreated date stamp (early 1970 models). The exterior features a reproduced Air Cleaner Service Decal (CM=70). The interior is in good condition as well. The oval snorkel retains a fully functional ThermAC vacuum pre-heater inlet. The points rear clearance had been previously increased slightly -likely to accomodate an HEI distributor; while this does not influence fitment or performance, it is mentioned for clarity.

The original OEM lid is a nice addition to the assembly and features an original seal. To complete the package, a GM licensed reproduction 396/300HP  Turbo-Jet decal has been added (loosely installed) to represent the original appearance. The assembly is topped off with a period correct wing nut. 

This assembly is in very nice condition and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine GM part!

NOTE: This assembly was in our shop during Hurricane Irma. As such, it may have minor scuffs/scratches, but nothing major. It is sold as pictured, but we wanted to ensure this detail was mentioned. We have priced it to sell - this will help us with our equipment and supply requirements in order to get back to regular operations.

This assembly is correct for the following models:

*with the change of a decal on the lid  

Note that this is the smaller 15 1/8" air cleaner diameter with the oval snorkel and pressed-in end fitting. It also differs from later production air cleaners by way of the smoothed/radiused carburetor inlet flange (later models feature prominent squared edges on the interior of the flange).

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as most Holley (not double pumpers), Carter, and Edelbrock variations (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS

Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.

CLAIMS
