DESCRIPTION
OEM 1970-73 Pontiac Firebird / Chevrolet Camaro Evaporator Core Unit. This is an original assembly that has been cosmetically updated to reflect a period correct presentation. It is unique to the early 2nd generation F-cars (70-73) due to the externally controlled fresh air duct and door inlet. The unit features an original evaporator, functional fresh air door vacuum actuator, new expansion valve with probe installed, original POA valve, original blower resistor and ambient sensor switch, original AC Delco stamped fan relay, and original drier bracket clamp components. An untested blower motor complete with correct drain tube and screws are included as well.
The external case has been refinished to present the original gelcoat look with minor repairs on the inboard case - largely out of sight once installed. It has been garnished with a new reproduction Harrison A/C decal (incorrect year, but nice) and presents well. The unit includes several strips of flexible caulk and original (as removed) screws/star washers and spinning washer nuts to make installation relatively complete.
It would be recommended to be pressure tested prior to installation to ensure the evaporator does not leak - while it is presumed that it didn't due to the condition, it is a good cost-effective alternative to execute this check first.
This assembly is in good condition - especially considering it is over 45 years-old, and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a rare genuine GM part!

FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 70-73 F-body A/C cars correctly. It differentiates from the 74 forward cars by using an externally mounted and controlled fresh air door (later models were controlled internally). Please be sure this is the assembly that you require, as return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
