DESCRIPTION
Ultra Rare OEM 1965 L37 396/425 or 375HP Z-16 1966 427/425HP L72 Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner. This is an original (OEM) assembly that has been refinished to a period correct image. The assembly features the original flat bottom base with the correct dual snorkels that are attached without the revised flanges or base groove as was the 1970 and later Z-28 LT1 assemblies. Both snorkel inlets are very nice with minimal distortion (as can be seen in the pictures), as are the original interior flanges that they were welded to by the factory. An NOS GM Stamped dimpled spark arrestor screen sits perched on top of the original flame arrestor tube. The exterior features a choice of the correct PN GM licensed reproduction air cleaner service decals: as removed - PN 6421214 (65 396/375) or PN 6421970 (66 427/425). Note that the base features factory stamping patterns that remain in place as found. An original 1/4" nipple is present for the choke heat system connection - rarely seen on these early models.
For the Z-16 application, a reproduction triple-plated chrome lid enhances the assembly and comes with a new seal. The chrome lid is garnished with a reproduction 396 die-cast emblem and a choice of 375 or 425 HP Turbo-Jet Decals. For the L72 427, a set of GM licensed 427/425HP Turbo-Jet Decals are included with the correct black lid. Note that original Z16 air cleaner lids came with the die-cast emblem - 427 reproductions are available as well for those wishing to have the perfected appearance.
The assembly is completed with a new reproduction A212CW square mesh heavy duty air filter and period correct wing nut.
We currently have the matching Holley Carburetor that is available for the L72/427 as well.
This is an extremely rare assembly that was made available on a very limited number of cars. 1965 models featured the chrome lid, while 1966 cars featured a black lid. Some additional points of clarification for the early style dual snorkel:
- Flat bottom base (later Z-28 models were ridged)
- Snorkels mount to flanges extending from the base (later Z-28 models used flanged snorkels)
- Limited indentations on rear points clearance area at rear of base (later Z-28 models featured additional wrinkles)
Pictures of the air cleaner were taken in its original state to validate the snorkels and condition. We welcome any questions regarding this air cleaner that you may have.

FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel 4150 Holley/Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as other Holley (most 4150 styles), Carter, and Edelbrock variations without electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor, intake manifold, or valve covers, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS
