1978-79 Pontiac Trans Am Shaker Air Cleaner W-72
DESCRIPTION
OEM 1978-79 Pontiac Trans Am Pontiac W72 400/455 Shaker Air Cleaner. The assembly has media blasted and refinished in semi-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features an oval snorkel in good condition with the correct 6" opening, new vacuum lines, and a new heavy duty air filter. Includes an original ATS with correct clip and new filter breather with GM Stamped adapter hose. The exterior features a new GM licensed Air Cleaner Service Decal (PU=78). The base features the correct deep drop required for proper shaker hood clearance, as well as the angled flange that parallels the base level with the sloped hood line.
Please note that the rear of the air cleaner base has been previously clearanced - it was returned to as close as possible to original, however, it is not entirely round and there is a small rise on the floor. It will properly mount the shaker scoop using the shaker ring. This is mentioned for clarity so there is no misunderstanding. Almost all of the imperfections are out of sight once installed.
The original shaker lid is in good condition as well with one small bend on the rim.
To complete the package, a period correct wing nut is included. As an added bonus, the assembly comes with an original stainless steel shaker ring adapter with new square bolt and screw.
This assembly is in good condition. Best of all, it is a genuine GM part!

APPLICATIONS
This assembly is correct for the following 1978-79 models:
Pontiac
Trans Am with 400 / 455 Pontiac engine
Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines or Pontiac 301/Chevrolet 350 engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, as well as the difference in carburetor flange drop.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Holley (it will NOT fit double pumpers; i.e. models 4150/4160), Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS
Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.
CLAIMS
