1978-79 PONTIAC TRANS AM 400 SHAKER SCOOP

DESCRIPTION

OEM 1978-79 Pontiac Trans Am W-72 400 Shaker Hood Scoop. This is an original shaker hood scoop that is in good overall original condition. The resprayed blue paint shows the fiberglass with typical patina. The base plate is correct for the 400 Pontiac engines (as well as transplanted 455 Pontiac engines). The back scoop inlet is original and has NOT been cut - hard to find an original survivor anymore. The interior features the Barnum Brothers details, as well as a (barely visible) stamped date code. The original plastic drain nipple is included as well. There is a slight crack on the LH (Driver's corner) that will need to be V-grooved and repaired prior to refinishing.

APPLICATIONS

This assembly is correct for the following 1978-79 models:

Pontiac

Trans Am with 400 Pontiac engine: W-72; L78 400*

Note: 77 cars came with the shorter shaker scoop with a distinct ridge along the center of the top, as well as spacers between the shaker base and adapter plate - while this will still work, it is not technically correct.

*It will also fit 455 Pontiac engines transplanted into 400 cars. 

Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines or Pontiac 301/Chevrolet 305/350 engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, and/or the difference in carburetor flange drop and shaker adapter plate size. 

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory 16.5" shaker air cleaner base and on factory height intake manifolds. If you have modified your carburetor. distributor, or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to purchase to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS

Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.
