Custom 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Pontiac W-72 400 455 Shaker Air Cleaner. The assembly has media blasted and refinished in semi-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the W-72 specific oval snorkel in good condition with the correct 6" oval opening, new white striped and black vacuum lines, and a new heavy duty air filter. The exterior features a new Air Cleaner Service Decal (PE=74) along with the open hole for the ported vacuum fitting (not included and not required for function). The base features the factory deep drop and slope that fits OEM Rochester Quadrajet carburetors required for proper shaker hood clearance. Includes the correct air temperature sensor with OEM clip as well. An early 74 year model production date stamp has been added as a nice touch of authenticity. Note the absence of the triangular TVE valve near the flange - this was added for the 75 model year.
The original shaker lid is in nice condition as well - it retains typical/visible stamping striations . To complete the package, a new heavy duty air filter, period correct wing nut, and a new filter breather with OEM adapter are included to make installation more complete.
As an added value, an OEM plastic pre-heater elbow, replete with Wittek tower clamp and black aluminized pre-heater hose are included.
While not perfect, this assembly presents nicely and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine GM part!

APPLICATIONS
This assembly will fit the following 1974 models:
Pontiac
Trans Am with 400 / 455* Pontiac engine, GTO with 350 4V
*It will also fit 73-79 cars with Pontiac 400/455 engine.1977 W-72 cars used the round 4" air cleaner. Note that this air cleaner style is specific to 74-76 models in that the location of the valve cover breather inlet - it differs from the later models. If you are unsure of your fitment requirements, please ask questions prior to purchase for confirmation.
Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines or Pontiac 301/Chevrolet 350 engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, as well as the difference in carburetor flange drop.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit Holley carburetors and factory style 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
