1978 PONTIAC TRANS AM 400 SHAKER AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH FRESH AIR DUCTWORK

DESCRIPTION

OEM 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Pontiac L78 400 Shaker Air Cleaner. The assembly has media blasted and refinished in semi-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the round snorkel in very good condition with the correct 4" opening, original yellow-striped and black vacuum lines, original ATS with clip, EVE valve, thermo-sensor valve with clip, and a new heavy duty air filter. The exterior features an original GM Air Cleaner Service Decal (PF=78). The base features the correct deep drop required for proper shaker hood clearance, as well as the angled flange that parallels the base level with the sloped hood line. The bottom of the snorkel is fitted with the correct Pontiac pre-heater elbow and Wittek tower clamp - with recessed clearance specifically for Pontiac Trans Am engine combinations.

The replacement shaker lid is in very nice as well. To complete the package, a period correct wing nut and a new filter breather replete with rubber adapter are included. 

As an addition to this air cleaner, the correct duct work is included. This includes the 4" vinyl fresh air hose with metal clamps (not plastic), round to triangular elbow adapter (early style), and fender duct (with screw and retainer). 

As an added value, the assembly comes with the correct Pontiac valve cover breather tube - specific to the 77-79 Pontiac engine equipped cars. 

This assembly is in nice condition and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine GM part!

*It will also fit 77 and 79 400s - the change of the air cleaner service decal would indicate which year. 

Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines or Pontiac 301/Chevrolet 350 engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, as well as the difference in carburetor flange drop. 

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as some Holley (it will NOT fit double pumpers; i.e. models 4150/4160), Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS

Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.
