1973 W72 PONTIAC TRANS AM SHAKER AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 400 455 CUSTOM DEEP DROP
DESCRIPTION
Custom 1973 Pontiac Trans Am Pontiac W-72 400 455 Shaker Air Cleaner. The assembly has media blasted and refinished in semi-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the W-72 specific oval snorkel in very good condition with the correct 6" opening, new white striped vacuum line, and a new heavy duty air filter. The exterior features a new Air Cleaner Service Decal (PQ=73). The base features a custom deep drop insert that fits Holley carburetors, as well as Rochester Quadrajet/Edelbrock carburetors (without electric choke) and many EFI units (*) required for proper shaker hood clearance, as well as the angled flange that parallels the base level with the sloped hood line. Includes the correct air temperature sensor with OEM clip as well for looks - can be optionally installed if required..
An original shaker lid is in nice condition as well. To complete the package, a new heavy duty air filter, period correct wing nut, a new filter breather with adapter, and a new reproduction breather tube are included.
The assembly is complemented with the complete fresh air ductwork specific to the 73-75 Trans Ams. The oval inlet fits inside the 6" snorkel, then connects with an NOS 4" vinyl clamped hose. This in turn connects to the early style elbow to triangle adapter complete with the bar bracket for support. This then connects to the fender duct on top of the inner fender liner.

This assembly will fit the following 1973 models:
Pontiac
Trans Am with 400 / 455* Pontiac engine
*It will also fit 74-79 cars with Pontiac 400/455 engine.1977 W-72 cars used the round 4" air cleaner. Note that this air cleaner style is specific to 73-76 models in that the location of the valve cover breather inlet - it differs from the later models.
Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines or Pontiac 301/Chevrolet 350 engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, as well as the difference in carburetor flange drop.
(*)It will NOT fit FITECH EFI throttle body fuel injection housings - the drop requirements will cause massive interference with the inlet/return fuel lines.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit Holley carburetors and factory style 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke and many EFI models. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

This assembly is guaranteed to match the item description – customers have up to 14 days to return the assembly after receipt if it is not as described.
RETURNS
Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.
CLAIMS
In the event of shipping damage, customers must save all packaging and send 5 digital pictures so Musclecar Air Cleaners can initiate a shipping damage claim.
