1973 BUICK CENTURY GRAN SPORT GS 455 STAGE 1 DUAL SNORKEL AIR CLEANER
DESCRIPTION
OEM 1973 Buick Century Gran Sport GS 455 Stage 1 Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner. The assembly has been refinished in mid-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the twin offset oval snorkels in excellent condition with fully functional ThermAC vacuum valves, new white-striped vacuum lines, correct air temperature sensor, and a new heavy duty air filter. The exterior features a reproduction air cleaner service decal. The base features the correct drop required for the 455, as well as the 5 1/8" carburetor flange designed to work with factory Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. The actual documented date code from the remaining original patina'd paint was duplicated in the exact same location to maintain as much authenticity as possible.
The original classic black lid with seal enhances the assembly and recreates the factory image. To complete the package, a period correct wing nut & new filter breather are included. As an added value, an NOS Buick Stage 1 embossed decal is included (loosely installed) to complement the assembly.
As an added value, a set of GS455 Buick Valve cover decals -correct for 73-are included to augment your engine compartment!
A word about the late Buick GS cars. By 1973, the muscle car wars were winding down. Chevrolet had abandoned big block A/F body cars, leaving only Pontiac/Buick/Olds to run the gauntlet for big block power. The 73 Buick GS was now on the Century platform, featuring the 255HP 455 engine with this air cleaner. The air cleaner was a derivation of the 69-72 style, but widened between the snorkels. The Stage 1 package was the penultimate engine, but a very limited number of these were produced (around 672 or so). While the GS was still an option for a variety of Century models, it could be had on just about all of them with as little as a 350 2 barrel! Externally, the GS model was adorned differently, allowing owners to enjoy the benefits of style and power - still en vogue through 74. To find an original piece in this condition is exceedingly rare - we've searched for over 15 years only to see a very limited number of them (like 2 including this one!).
This assembly presents well and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is an ULTRA RARE genuine GM part!

This assembly will also fit the 350 models, but is not technically correct.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as most Holley (it will NOT fit double pumpers; i.e. models 4150/4160), Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
