1972-73 MOPAR CUDA DART DUSTER DEMON CHALLENGER 340 FOUR BARREL AIR CLEANER TRAP DOOR
DESCRIPTION
OEM 1972-73 Mopar 340 Four Barrel Trap Door Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished in hemi orange to present a period correct image. The base is in very good condition and uses the single short oval snorkel specific to the 340 Four Barrel cars. It features the 5 1/8" flange that will fit OEM Carter Thermoquads and comes with a new Mopar air cleaner service decal. The inside surfaces are clean and retain factory stamping indentations - there are a few minor surface anomalies on the insides - out of sight once installed, but mentioned for clarity.The factory breather filter tube and snorkel baffle are intact and maintain the factory function. This special high performance version features a vacuum operated trap door - it remains closed with full vacuum, but opens upon acceleration to provide more air - thusly increasing power. All vacuum lines are new and routed to factory specifications.
The lid is in good condition and has been garnished with a new Mopar licensed 340 Four Barrel decal installed. A "Made in Canada" stamp has been added to the base and lid as a nice touch of authenticity. A new serrated rubber lid seal has been installed to ensure proper sealing to the base. A new heavy duty air filter and period correct wing nut are included to complete the assembly.
As an added value, a new pre-heater aluminum hose is included to make installation more complete.
This assembly is specific to the 1972-73 340 models listed below. While it is not perfect, it presents well and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine Mopar part!

Note that later models in 1973 featured a similar version without the trap door. This unit looks very similar and will work on all 73 models - the only installed difference being the rear vacuum pod and attaching bracketry.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Carter Thermoquad carburetors or others with the 5 1/8" flange (as well as Edelbrock/Holley/Carter AVS carburetors with the 5 1/8" flange). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
