DESCRIPTION

OEM 1968-72 Chevrolet Camaro/Chevelle/Impala/Nova SS 396/427/454 LS3/LS5/L36/L72 Air Cleaner Pre-Heater Stove Flange. This is an original 53+ year-old pre-heater exhaust manifold stove tube adapter specific to the 68-72 396/454 models that has been media blasted to bare metal, then coated with high heat ceramic low gloss black. It retains the square insert with screw hole where the tube adapter inserts into the stove and is retained with a screw. The tier 1 supplier FABCO stamp is visible near the screw hole.

This piece fits into the exhaust manifold pre-heater stove and is connected to the bottom of the air cleaner snorkle inlet via a 2" aluminized intake pipe. It is part of the CAP system from 68-72 found on big block closed element air cleaner fitted cars (68-69 automatics only; 70 non-cowl; 71-72 closed element and cowl induction). 

These are extremely hard to find - especially in near NOS condition. Back when new, these were typically discarded in lieu of presumed performance enhancements (especially once headers were installed).

APPLICATIONS

This assembly is correct for the following models:

1968-72 Chevrolet

Camaro SS / Chevelle SS / El Camino SS LS3 396/400 or LS5 454 / Impala SS 427 (68-69) with closed element air cleaner

The assembly is exclusive for cars equipped with 396/427/454 with closed element air cleaners and 71-72 cowl induction cars. It features the 2" pre-heater inlet that attaches to an aluminized inlet hose (not included), then that attaches to the bottom of the snorkel directly below the ThermAC vacuum pod via use of a 90 degree elbow with Wittek clamp. 

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory original 68-72 Big Block exhaust manifolds. If you have modified your exhaust manifolds, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
