1971-72 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS CHEVELLE SS 396/400/454 LS3 LS5 DUAL SNORKEL AIR CLEANER
DESCRIPTION
OEM 1971-72 Chevrolet Camaro SS Chevelle SS 396/454 Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner. This assembly has been media blasted and refinished in the correct semi-gloss black finish to present a period correct image. The base features dual snorkels that are in nice condition along with a new breather filter, new heavy duty air filter, and a recreated date stamp. The exterior features a reproduced Air Cleaner Service Decal (CL= 71 HP). The dual snorkel air cleaner is specific to original cars without cowl induction and without air conditioning (AC cars featured a single passenger side snorkel) and are augmented with GM white-striped vacuum hoses. As an added value, an original pre-heater elbow with clamp is included.
The beautiful triple chrome-plated reproduction lid is an excellent addition to the assembly and features a new seal to ensure correct sealing. To complete the package, a GM licensed Turbo-Jet 396/300 Horsepower decal is included (or a choice of either a 400/300 or 396/300 depending upon your application) and a period correct wing nut are included. The black lid was used exclusively for 1972 models and did not use an engine displacement decal. Please let us know if you prefer the black lid (*subject to availability).
Due to the rarity of this assembly and application, reproductions are not available. With the typical "day two" updates from the musclecar era, many were trashed or replaced with an open element assembly. As such, they are increasingly hard to find today.
Many of our parts are available only once - we cannot predict if/when another will become available due to the scarcity of original parts. The old adage "here today, gone tomorrow" applies to many of these unique assemblies. While we strive to maintain a strong diversity of desirable parts, there simply aren't enough available to meet demand at times.

The assembly is correct for non-AC cars and non-Cowl Induction cars - rare and highly coveted!
1971 assemblies featured chromed lids, while 72 assemblies received complementing black lids and did not use decals.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Holley, Carter, and Edelbrock variations (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
