1979 W72 TRANS AM SHAKER AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 75 76 78
DESCRIPTION
OEM 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Pontiac W-72 400 Shaker Air Cleaner. The assembly has media blasted and refinished in semi-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the W-72 specific oval snorkel in very good condition with the correct 6" opening, original yellow striped and black vacuum lines, and a new heavy duty air filter. The exterior features a new Air Cleaner Service Decal (PJ=79). The base features the correct deep drop required for proper shaker hood clearance, as well as the angled flange that parallels the base level with the sloped hood line. Includes the correct ported thermal vacuum sensor, EVS triangular sensor, and correct air temperature sensor with OEM clip. The original shaker lid is in very good condition as well. To complete the package, a period correct wing nut and a new filter breather with GM stamped breather filter adapter are included.

APPLICATIONS
This assembly is correct for the following 1978-79 models:
Pontiac
Trans Am with 400 / 455* Pontiac engine
*It will also fit 73-76 and 80-81 cars with Pontiac 400/455 engine.1977 W-72 cars used the round 4" air cleaner. Note that this air cleaner is specific to 78-79 models in that the location of the valve cover breather inlet - it differs from the earlier models.
Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines or Pontiac 301/Chevrolet 350 engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, as well as the difference in carburetor flange drop.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Holley (it will NOT fit double pumpers; i.e. models 4150/4160), Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
