1979 Pontiac Trans Am Shaker Scoop With Air Cleaner Assembly 400/455
DESCRIPTION
OEM 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Pontiac W72 400/455 Shaker Air Cleaner. The assembly has media blasted and refinished in semi-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features an oval snorkel in good condition with the correct 6" opening, new vacuum lines, and a new heavy duty air filter. The exterior features a new Air Cleaner Service Decal (PJ=79). The base features the correct deep drop required for proper shaker hood clearance, as well as the angled flange that parallels the base level with the sloped hood line. Some emission provisions have been plugged due to the special request of the item. The replacement shaker lid is in very good condition as well. To complete the package, a period correct wing nut with stud and a new filter breather are included.
The original fresh air duct work is also very nice, having endured service for over 40 years. It features the oval snorkel adapter, new 4" vinyl replacement duct, elbow duct, and fresh air fender duct.
An original 78-79 Pontiac 400 Shaker scoop, replete with attaching stainless steel band clamp, is included to ensure that the parts are 100% compatible.
As an added bonus, 3' of distributor vacuum line is included.

APPLICATIONS
This assembly is correct for the following 1978-79 models:
Pontiac
Trans Am with 400 / 455* Pontiac engine
*It will also fit 73-76 and 80-81 cars with 400/455 engine.1977 W-72 cars used the round 4" air cleaner. Note that this air cleaner is specific to 78-79 models in that the location of the valve cover breather inlet - it differs from the earlier models.
Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines or Pontiac 301/Chevrolet 350 engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, as well as the difference in carburetor flange drop.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Holley (it will NOT fit double pumpers; i.e. models 4150/4160), Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
