1971-72 PONTIAC GTO 400 455 DUAL SNORKEL AIR CLEANER

DESCRIPTION

OEM 1971-72 Pontiac GTO The Judge Firebird Gran Prix 400/455 Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner. The assembly has been refinished in mid-gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the dual oval snorkels in good condition with functional ThermAC vacuum valves, breather filter, new white-striped/black vacuum lines, correct air temperature sensor, and a new heavy duty air filter. An original style date stamp has been added as a further measure of originality. The exterior features a heavy duty air cleaner service decal. The base features the correct drop and the 5 1/8" carburetor flange designed to work with factory Rochester Quadrajets. This assembly features the carburetor vent hole specifically starting with 71 model years.

A new triple plated chrome lid with seal adds appeal to the engine compartment. To complete the package, a period correct wing nut & new filter breather with GM stamped adapter are included.  

As an added bonus, a correct pre-heater elbow replete with Wittek tower clamp is included to make installation more complete.

APPLICATIONS

This assembly is correct for the following 1971-72 models:

Pontiac

GTO/The Judge with 400-4 / 455-4 Pontiac Non-HO/Ram Air Engines, LeMans Sport 400

*Grand Prix 400 / Firebird 400 (68-69 only)

1970 - while this assembly will fit many of these models, the primary difference is in the design featuring the lack of carburetor vent tube. 

*It will also fit 68-69 400s and Grand Prix engines, but is not correct for these year models. 

This assembly will not fit the 70-72 Pontiac F-body (Firebird / Formula / Trans Am) due to the shallower drop; F-bodies required a deep drop center and angled flange for proper hood clearance.

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as most Holley (it will NOT fit double pumpers; i.e. models 4150/4160), Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS
