DESCRIPTION

 

OEM 1970-72 Oldsmobile 350 / 455 4-4-2 Oval Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished in low-gloss black to present a period correct image. The oval snorkel with the formed oval end (as opposed to smaller unit with pressed on end fitting) is in good condition with a functional ThermAC pre-heater along with new white striped/black vacuum lines (one very tiny ding visible in 2nd picture). The base is clean and comes with a correct air temperature sensor (ATS) installed with the correct retainer; one anomaly on the rear in the 6th picture* (out of sight once installed, but mentioned for clarity).  The exterior features a GM licensed reproduction Air Cleaner Service Decal (NG=71/72) that replaces the originally located decal.  As an added measure, an original style date stamp has been recreated to add a nice touch. This assembly is specific to 1970-72 350/455 and 4-4-2 cars due to the location of the filter breather outlet and snorkel.

An OEM lid enhances the assembly and features an original seal. To complete the package, a new heavy duty air filter, along with an original breather filter tube grommet replete with breather tube, and period correct wing nut are included. To add further distinction, a choice of either GM licensed 350, 400, 4-4-2, or 455 Rocket decals will be been included (loosely installed) to complement the assembly.

FITMENT 

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Holley (non-double pumpers), Carter, and Edelbrock variations without electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor, intake manifold or valve covers, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
