DESCRIPTION
OEM 1971-72 Chevrolet Camaro/Chevelle SS/El Camino 396/454 Single Snorkel Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished in 60% gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the single snorkel that is in excellnt condition that features formed ends (not pressed in), along with a fully functional ThermAC vacuum pod, white-striped vacuum lines, a new heavy duty air filter, and a recreated date stamp. The exterior features a reproduced Air Cleaner Service Decal (CT=71/Chevelle).
The beautiful triple chrome-plated reproduction lid is an excellent addition to the assembly and features a new seal to ensure correct sealing. To complete the package, a choice of (1) GM licensed Turbo-Jet 396/300 or 454/365 Horsepower decal is included (loosely installed for the buyer to install). The assembly is topped off with a period correct chrome wing nut. For 72 models, the black lid would be required without a decal.
As an added value, an original pre-heater elbow replete with correct Wittek clamp and reproduction pre-heater hose is included to make installation more complete.
This single snorkel air cleaner is specific to original 71-72 cars with the LS3/LS5 and closed air cleaner element with A/C. Note that 71 models featured the chrome lid, while 72 models reverted back to the black lid.
Note that the displacement decal can be requested to meet your needs.

APPLICATIONS
This assembly is correct for the following models:

Camaro SS/Chevelle SS El Camino LS3 396/400 or LS5 454 with A/C
The assembly is exclusive for cars equipped with 396/454 with A/C. The snorkel differs from the B/G bodies of the era by way of the shorter snorkel assembly featuring a formed end (not pressed in like the Monte Carlo).
Note that this is the smaller 15 1/8" air cleaner and differs from the non-HP air cleaners in both snorkel design (formed vs. pressed) as well as lid (low profile vs tall).
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as most Holley (not double pumpers), Carter, and Edelbrock variations (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). Fits A/C cars specifically. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
