DESCRIPTION

OEM 1971-72 Chevrolet Chevelle SS El Camino SS 396/400/402 LS3 Tapered Snorkel Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished in 60% gloss black to present a period correct image. The base features the long tapered snorkel in good condition, along with the ThermAC vacuum pod, new white-striped vacuum lines, a new heavy duty air filter and breather filter, and a recreated date stamp (early 1971 models). The exterior features a reproduced Air Cleaner Service Decal (CJ=71/early 72). The interior is in excellent condition as well.

The original OEM lid is a nice addition to the assembly and features an original seal. To complete the package, a GM licensed reproduction 400/300 Horsepower Turbo-Jet decal has been installed to represent the original appearance. The assembly is topped off with a period correct wing nut. 

Note: this assembly differs from all small block assembies by way of: a larger snorkel inlet (both oval insert at the end and wider snorkel at base), larger pre-heater inlet, and valve cover breather tube inlet.

This assembly is in nice condition and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine GM part!

This assembly is correct for the following models:

GMC, C/10

The assembly is for cars equipped with 396/400/402 without cowl induction hoods.

Note that this is the correct smaller 15 1/8" air cleaner diameter, but with many differences when compared to small block 350 assemblies.

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as most Holley (not double pumpers), Carter, and Edelbrock variations (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). Fits non- A/C cars only. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

RETURNS

Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.
