DESCRIPTION
OEM 1971-72 Chevrolet Camaro/Chevelle SS 396/454 LS3/LS5 Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished in 60% gloss black to present an OEM period correct image. The base features the factory dual snorkels that are in very good condition that feature formed ends (not pressed in), along with fully functional ThermAC vacuum pods, white-striped vacuum lines, a new heavy duty air filter, and a recreated date stamp. The exterior features a reproduced Air Cleaner Service Decal (CL=71). The interior is in excellent condition as well.
A choice of lids is available depending upon the model year. For 71, a beautiful triple chrome-plated reproduction lid is an excellent addition to the assembly and features a new seal to ensure correct sealing. As an option for the 72 models, the black lid is included without a decal to mirror the factory production. To complete the package, a choice of (1) GM licensed Turbo-Jet 396/300 or 454/365 Horsepower decal is included (loosely installed for the buyer to install). The assembly is topped off with a period correct chrome wing nut.
This dual snorkel air cleaner is specific to original 71-72 cars with the LS3/LS5 and closed air cleaner element without A/C. Note that 71 models featured the chrome lid with decal, while 72 models reverted back to the black lid without a decal.
As an added value, an original pre-heater elbow replete with correct Wittek clamp and reproduction pre-heater hose is included to make installation more complete.
This assembly is in excellent condition and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is an ultra-rare and genuine GM part!

APPLICATIONS
This assembly is correct for the following models:

The assembly is exclusive for cars equipped with 396/454 without cowl induction hoods or A/C. It features the shorter snorkels with the ThermAC pods close to the end of the formed snorkel inlets.
Note that this is the smaller 15 1/8" air cleaner - not the larger 17 1/8" Z28 style air cleaners currently reproduced.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as most Holley (not double pumpers), Carter, and Edelbrock variations (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). Fits non- A/C cars only. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
