1969 L88 427 L78 427 396 OPEN ELEMENT AIR CLEANER BASE NOS

1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 427 Chevelle SS L75 396 Open Element Air Cleaner Base - NOS. This is an NOS open element air cleaner base for the big block Chevrolet engines for 69. It features all of the correct indentations, original flame arrestor tube, fuel pump reliefs, and carburetor tangs designed - all fully intact with no damage other than movement from shelf to shelf. There appears to have been a factory filter installed at the time of production, but is not with it now (there are slight impressions in the paint around the outer ridge that indicates this). There is no evidence of the valve cover tube ever being installed, nor any wear on the bottom of the carburetor flange.

There is one very slight bend on the perimeter ridge of the at the 7:00 o'clock position when looking from head on. The 9:00 o'clock stamping features the raised stamp - used as an initial marker for additional tubes. 

The laquer paint is excellent for its age and considering it was left unattended for the past 48 years. 

This is a very rare NOS part that will add significantly to a survivor car desiring NCRS or GM Nationals. The pictures display various wear marks on both the top and the bottom - perfectly acceptable for an NOS piece.

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as factory Holley carburetors, as well as Carter, and Edelbrock variations without electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor, intake manifold or valve covers, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
