DESCRIPTION

OEM 1969 AMC 390 Hurst SC/RAMBLER Ram Air Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished to represent the factory appearance as produced for the limited 69 models. It features the correct snorkel inlet housing with a thermally regulated temperature valve and pre-heater provisions. The base is in very good condition and has the front oil breather elbow tube. The flange is 4 1/8" inch and accommodates factory 4 barrel Carter AFB carburetors. A "Made in Canada" stamp has been added as a nice touch of authenticity.

The assembly features a reproduction Ram Air "tub" that fits inside the base and retains the factory snorkel opening. It is topped with a new foam seal that secures the unit to the hood to ensure fresh air is used in lieu of heated engine air. The exterior carries the 69 blue version air cleaner service decal featuring the "Front" call out.

The Ram Air lid is in good condition as well. It retains the AMC contours and sits atop a new heavy duty air filter. It is secured with a period correct air cleaner wing nut. 

With so few of these left due to early owners discarding them in favor of open element air filter assemblies, they have become increasingly difficult to find (in any condition). This assembly is complete and reflects the original period, allowing an incomplete restoration to get that much closer to the original state.

Many of our parts are available only once - we cannot predict if/when another will become available due to the scarcity of original parts. The old adage "here today, gone tomorrow" applies to many of these unique assemblies. While we strive to maintain a strong diversity of desirable parts, there simply aren't enough available to meet demand at times. 

APPLICATIONS

 

This assembly is correct for the following 1969 models:

AMC

Hurst SC/Rambler, Rebel Machine, *AMX 390, Rebel, SST

It will fit a variety of AMC engines up through 1970 - 290, 343, 360, 401 with the smaller diameter flange carburetor. Note this style differs from the smaller displacements assemblies by way of a larger diameter, as well as snorkel length. It will not fit the 70 Ram Air systems due to being taller and featuring the smaller carburetor flange.

FITMENT

 

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel carburetors with a 4 1/8" diameter flange. It will NOT fit later model (Holley, Carter, and Edelbrock) variations with the larger 5 1/8" flange. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to purchase to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
