1968 OLDSMOBILE 4-4-2 AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY

DESCRIPTION

OEM 1968 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 400 Oval Snorkel Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished to present a period correct image. The single snorkel with oval end (as opposed to smaller unit with pressed end for 350 cars) is in very nice condition and features a fully functional ThermAC pre-heater along with new white striped vacuum lines (without factory over-spray). The base is very clean and comes with a correct air temperature sensor (ATS) installed with the original retainer.  The exterior features a GM licensed reproduction Air Cleaner Service Decal (OG=68) that replaces the originally located silk screen.  As an added measure, an original date stamp has been recreated to add a nice touch of authenticity. This assembly is specific to 1968 cars due to the location/inclusion of the filter breather outlet, snorkel size/orientation, and pre-heater inlet location on the bottom of the snorkel.

An OEM lid enhances the assembly and features an original seal. To complete the package, a new heavy duty air filter , along with a new breather filter with GM stamped adapter, and period correct wing nut are included.

To enhance the assembly further, a beautiful new GM licensed aluminum 4-4-2 pan with stainless steel retainer are included (loosely installed) to complement the assembly.  These were originally glued down, but due to potential Rocket 400/455 buers, remains loosely installed.

This assembly presents very well and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine GM part!

This assembly is correct for the following 1968 400 (transplanted 455) models:

Oldsmobile

Cutlass, 4-4-2, Vista Cruiser, Cutlass Supreme, Delta 88, Regency 98

This assembly is a one-year only piece due to the nature of the snorkel, pre-heater inlet location, and valve cover breather element.

 FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange, as well as Holley (non-double pumpers), Carter, and Edelbrock variations without electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor, intake manifold or valve covers, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

WARRANTY

This assembly is guaranteed to match the item description – customers have up to 14 days to return the assembly after receipt if it is not as described.

RETURNS

Assemblies must be returned in the original packing – customers are responsible for return shipping charges. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the inspected assembly. Returns for non-fitment will not be honored – please ask questions first.
