DESCRIPTION

OEM 1968-69 AMC 343 290 Air Cleaner. This assembly has been refinished to represent the factory appearance as produced for the 68-69 models. It features the early 10" snorkel inlet housing a thermally regulated temperture valve and pre-heater provisions. The base is in very good condition and has the front small diameter oil breather tube. The flange is 4 1/8" inch and accomodates factory 4 barrel carburetors (AFB Models). The exterior carries the 68-69 blue version air cleaner service decal featuring the "Front" callout.

The closed top is specific to this assembly and is in good condition - there are some rim indentations that are largely unseen once installed, but mentioned for clarity. It is finished off with a reproduction AMC licensed 343  High Compression Four Barrel air cleaner decal (loosely installed). The original dimpled wing nut well is clean and contours perfectly with a new heavy duty air filter. The assembly is completed with a period correct wing nut. 

This assembly presents well and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine AMC product.

APPLICATIONS

 

This assembly is correct for the following 1968-69 models:

AMC

Javelin SST, Rebel Raider, Rebel SST, Ambassador SST, Rambler Wagon

Change of decal can be accomplished for 290 or 390 engines (not included).

It will fit a variety of AMC engines - 290, 343, 360, 401. Note this style differs from the 390 and cowl induction assemblies by way of air cleaner lid and filter diameter; the bolt-on snorkel is the same.

 

FITMENT

 

The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Carter AFB carburetors with a 4 1/8" diameter flange. It will NOT fit Holley, Carter, and Edelbrock variations due to the larger 5 1/8" flange. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to purchase to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
