DESCRIPTION
1964-67 Mopar 273 4V Chrome Unsilenced Air Cleaner. This assembly is an original assembly that has been re-chromed and is ready to install. Overall, it presents very well and comes with a reproduction Mopar air cleaner service decal. The top is very nice, showing only one minor scratch (hard to see in any pictures, but mentioned for clarity). The top also is the later version that features the CAP (valve cover breather nipple). A new 273 Charger decal is installed (loosely) and can also be changed out to the Commando 273 if being installed in a 'Cuda. The original base remains as stamped and is in nice condition. It features a 4 1/8" carburetor flange that fits the original Carter AFB carburetors. The interior of the top features typical flash chrome finishing which will prevent typical rusting associated with unfinished metal. To complete the assembly, a new heavy duty air filter and period correct wing nut are included.
This assembly presents well and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuine Mopar part!
Many of our parts are available only once - we cannot predict if/when another will become available due to the scarcity of original parts. The old adage "here today, gone tomorrow" applies to many of these unique assemblies. A word about re-chroming. Due to the extensive costs associated with maintaining EPA requirements, the cost of chroming parts has escalated. Many chrome shops have gone out of business as a result of the EPA's crackdown on environmental impacts. In some instances, original parts are left to represent themselves as produced. While this assembly could be re-chromed, we felt the originality was good enough to stand on its own.
APPLICATIONS
This assembly is correct for the following 1964-67 273 high performance models with CAP:
Dodge
Dart
Plymouth
Barracuda
It will fit A/B/C-body cars ranging from 62-67 as well with the smaller carburetor flange, but is only correct for 1964-67. It will also fit 383/413 models as well from this era. We leave the decal loose so it can meet the new owner's requirements.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel carburetors (Carter AFB) with a 4 1/8" diameter flange. It will not fit newer carburetors such as Holley, Carter AVS, or Edelbrock AFB variations. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
