1959-61 CHEVROLET IMPALA 348 3X2 TRIPOWER AIR CLEANER
OEM 1959-61 Chevrolet Belair 348 3x2 Tripower Air Cleaner. This assembly has been media blasted and refinished to the original look of the 1959-61 cars featuring the infamous Tripower carburetion. The base features a very clean interior, nice filter ridge, smooth perimeter, and correct clearance dimples on the bottom. The snorkels are straight (with typical factory impressions) and clocked at 1:00 and 9:00 (as viewed from the "front" marking) - this defines the years and applications. Each snorkel is a different length - specific to the engine era. The internal carburetor mounting stancheons are original and mount to the three carburetors; note that the all carburetor flanges are the same large size (2 3/4") and height. The exterior has been updated with a GM licensed air cleaner service decal (orange over black instead of over clear) to finish off the exterior. Note the "9" stamping in the base above the snorkels illustrates the originality of the unit - not present on the reproduction pieces readily available.
The original lid is included and in good condition. It sits nicely on an NOS heavy duty high performance perforated air filter and is secured by a period correct wing nut.
This assembly presents nicely and remains an excellent choice to enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a rare and genuine GM part!
